We are all equal, but in some places, inequality only affects girls. Power is education. It's the way to break patterns of neediness and misuse. Girls have the freedom to learn, grow, and create a better future for themselves and the world when they are valued for their potential rather than just for their gender.
"Help girls and women get an education if you want to give them more opportunities."
The best tool we have for changing the world is education. A girl with an education has a better chance of being healthy, safe, and able to choose her destiny. When she is ready for marriage and children, she will decide. She might even live longer and send her children to school.
We all know that girls are more likely to be abused or neglected if they don't have an education. But what about the flip side? What if there was a way for them to control their destinies? How would it change the world?
It's simple: When girls have access to education, they have more power. They can become healthy, safe, and able to choose their destiny—and that means more choices for themselves and their families. And when girls have choices, they're more likely to live longer and send their children to school!
Sadly, more than 98 million teenage girls worldwide do not attend school. We are aware that education is the single most effective strategy for elevating women's status in this crisis. However, girls have a harder time getting an education. When girls enter secondary school, these pressures become even more pronounced because of cultural bias, gender discrimination, and safety concerns.
The link between education and empowerment is undeniable, but the more education a girl receives, the greater the effect. Education is a way of life, not just a single lesson. It cannot be confined to books or classrooms. The greater our knowledge, the stronger we are. By giving them an education that gives them the tools to change their own lives and the world around them, you can change their lives!
