Education is key to transforming the world. Education has been shown to be the best tool for eliminating poverty, and in turn, reducing crime, famine, and disease. Everybody knows this. What some people don’t know is that there are nearly one billion children in the world who aren’t being educated. Even in America, there are over 250,000 public school students who aren’t being taught how to read at their grade levels.
Education is one of the most powerful measures we have in developing a country's future. It helps people reach their full potential and contribute to their communities, economies, and global society. Education can be a powerful tool for empowering children; it can also help close the gap between rich and poor.
Unfortunately, many children around the world are not getting the chance to attend school. More than half of all children under five are not enrolled in primary school and only 65 percent are enrolled in secondary school. Unfortunately, even those who do attend school often have trouble staying there. According to UNESCO, about four million students drop out of school each year, and another four million are unable to complete primary education due to poverty or other issues such as gender inequality.
If we want to build a more stable and peaceful world, then investment in education can be an effective tool for countries to consider. What's more, it's an investment that benefits everyone involved. Developing social advances in education allows individuals to do more for themselves and their local communities, which in turn helps them push their country further along the path of prosperity. The goal is to create a cycle: if one person or a group of people within a community works harder and becomes more successful, they are able to help those who have not yet achieved such achievements—creating a self-sustaining cycle.
