Pakistan is a country that stands for "land of the pure." The country is a nation of more than 167 million people and is one of the largest Muslim countries in the world. While it has many accomplishments, including being the first Islamic country to develop nuclear weapons, it also has its share of problems.
Poverty is one of them. The majority of Pakistanis live in rural areas and work menial jobs or labor to make ends meet. Unemployment and illiteracy are high, and it is common for parents to not have enough money to send their children to school.
Poverty and illiteracy are closely linked. Poor people are less likely to be literate, and illiterate people are more likely to be poor.
Illiteracy is closely connected with the lack of education, which in its turn is closely connected with poverty. Illiteracy means that people cannot read or write; thus, they are not able to get a job, which will bring them enough money for living and for their children's education. In such a way, poverty and illiteracy form a circle, when one problem causes another problem and the second one causes the first one.
In the end, it’s clear that poverty goes hand-in-hand with illiteracy. It’s hard to escape both, as they’re virtually impossible to overcome without a good education. On the other hand, literacy can help to solve socio-economic problems, especially in developing countries like Pakistan (and many others). Education leads to a good job and money for supporting of life or for children's education.
